British government: US companies plan to invest more than £ 1.25 billion in UK financial services
Internet reports that the British government announced on Saturday that the private sector from the United States will invest more than 1.25 billion pounds (approximately 1.69 billion US dollars) in the UK's financial services sector, including PayPal, Bank of America, Citigroup and Standard & Poor's Global. The statement said these new U.S. investments will create 1800 jobs in the UK and bring more convenience to millions of customers. The statement also pointed out that the agreement has boosted 20 billion pounds of trade between the two countries, including an additional 7 billion pounds commitment BlackRock is expected to make in the UK. According to the statement, Bank of America will create as many as 1000 new jobs in Belfast, the bank's first time in Northern Ireland; Citigroup will invest £ 1.1 billion in its UK operations; and Standard & Poor's Global will invest £ 4 million in Manchester, creating 200 permanent jobs.
