BYD's (HKG: 1211) premium brand Denza will begin pre-sales of the N8L on September 26, aiming to target the family vehicle market with the large six-seat SUV (sport utility vehicle).

Denza announced the date on Weibo today and shared a glimpse of the N8L's interior, showing its "2+2+2" seating layout.

The Denza team has refined every detail of the N8L, and the family-focused vehicle is now ready for launch, said Li Hui, the brand's sales general manager, on Weibo today.

The N8L is a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) with dimensions of 5,200 mm in length, 1,999 mm in width, and 1,820/1,990 mm in height, featuring a 3,075 mm wheelbase, according to a regulatory filing in May.

The N8L can be viewed as a slightly scaled-down version of Denza's flagship N9 SUV launched in March, which measures 5,258 mm in length, 2,030 mm in width, and 1,830 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,125 mm.

Denza previously had an SUV called the N8 in August 2023, but that hybrid SUV has later been discontinued. The exterior design of the N8L differs significantly from the N8.

In late July, local media outlet Yiche reported that Denza would officially launch the N8L in the second quarter of 2026, targeting the luxury SUV market alongside the N9.

The upcoming pre-sale this Friday suggests the N8L's launch timeline may have been accelerated to capitalize on higher new energy vehicle (NEV) purchase tax incentives available within this year.

Denza sold 11,993 units in August, marking a 20.06 percent year-on-year increase and a 5.43 percent rise from July, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

August sales comprised 8,712 units of the D9 MPV, 1,102 units of the Z9 series, 2,021 units of the N9, and 158 units of the N7.
