Aito, the automotive brand jointly developed by Huawei and Seres Group, has officially launched the updated M7 SUV (sport utility vehicle), refreshing one of its most important models.
The updated M7 was rolled out today at a launch event for Huawei's HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) business, with deliveries set to begin on September 26.
Its starting price is RMB 279,800 ($39,350), representing an RMB 8,200 reduction from the RMB 288,000 pre-sales price announced earlier this month.
Within five minutes of its official launch, the updated M7 secured over 10,000 firm orders, HIMA announced shortly after the event concluded.
Earlier today, Aito said that the updated M7 had surpassed 230,000 pre-orders since pre-sales began on September 5.
The updated M7 offers both battery electric vehicle (BEV) and extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants, unlike its predecessor which only provided EREV options.
It also offers five-seat and six-seat configurations, each with six options, resulting in a total of 12 trims.
Its primary competitors include Li Auto's (NASDAQ: LI) Li L6 and Li L7, Xpeng's (NYSE: XPEV) G9, and Leapmotor's (HKG: 9863) C16.
The updated M7 features larger dimensions at 5,080 mm long, 1,999 mm wide, and 1,780 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3,030 mm.
By comparison, its predecessor measured 5,020 mm long, 1,945 mm wide, and 1,760 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm.
The updated M7 comes standard with power batteries supplied by CATL (SHE: 300750). The EREV variants offer battery pack capacities of 37 kWh and 53 kWh, delivering a combined range of up to 1,625 kilometers when fully fueled and charged.
The BEV variants feature a 100-kWh battery pack, achieving a range of up to 710 kilometers.
The updated M7 offers single-motor and dual-motor configurations, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in as little as 4.7 seconds for the most powerful variant.
The Aito M7 was initially launched on July 4, 2022. Huawei rolled out the previous M7 update at an event on September 12, 2023.
On May 31, 2024, Aito introduced the M7 Ultra, followed by the Pro series of the SUV in August.
