Tornado Cash developer trial prohibits reference to key jurisprudence "

Online reports that U.S. Federal Court for the Southern District of New York Judge Katherine Polk Failla ruled that the Van Loon v. Treasury decision should not be mentioned in the criminal trial of Tornado Cash developer Roman Storm. The case once found that "immutable smart contracts are not property." Storm is charged with money laundering, evasion of sanctions and other charges and faces up to 45 years in prison if convicted. The judge believed that the case was irrelevant to criminal cases and could easily confuse the jury. The case will test whether developers should be criminally responsible for the way they used the code, and the trial is scheduled for July 14 in Manhattan.
