Trump delays drug tariffs to negotiate drug prices "
Internet reports that U.S. President Trump threatened last week to impose triple-digit tariffs on drug imports starting Wednesday. But the White House now says the tariffs may not be necessary. According to a White House official, the Trump administration has suspended plans to impose tariffs and is trying to strike deals with major pharmaceutical companies-such as the one announced on Tuesday with Pfizer to avoid raising tariffs on its well-known brands of drugs. The official referred to Commerce Secretary Lutnik's remarks at a Pfizer announcement in the Oval Office. Asked when the drug tariffs would take effect, Lutnik said the administration "will let the negotiations continue until they are completed because that is the most important thing for the American people."
