Recently, an artificial intelligence application that claims to be benchmarked against ChatGPT - Character.AI announced that in less than a week after its launch on May 23 for global iOS and Android users, its App installs have exceeded 1.7 million.。By comparison, the ChatGPT mobile app was downloaded more than 500,000 times in its first six days.。Character.AI is a chatbot platform that provides customizable artificial intelligence assistants with distinctive personalities and the ability for users to create their own characters。The platform was built by Character Technologies, a Palo Alto-based startup founded in November 2021 by artificial intelligence experts Noam Shazel and Daniel de Freitas, who previously led a research team at Google that built LaMDA.
