NVIDIA informs China customers about modified chips: plans to launch modified H20 chips in July

According to online reports, according to a report on the website of Singapore's Lianhe Zaobao on May 9, about a month after the U.S. government imposed export restrictions on Nvidia's H20 artificial intelligence (AI) chips, it was reported that Nvidia plans to launch a downgraded version of H20 for the China market in the next two months. Reuters quoted three sources as saying on May 9 that Nvidia had notified its major China customers, including giant companies in the cloud computing field, that it planned to launch a modified version of the H20 chip in July. According to reports, Nvidia has established new technical thresholds to guide the development of modified chip designs. People familiar with the matter said that compared with the original H20, these specifications will significantly degrade chip performance, including a significant reduction in memory capacity.
