The developer of Bitcoin privacy wallet Samourai Wallet dismissed the charge but the case remains at a legal deadlock
The Internet reported that Keonne Rodriguez and William Lonergan Hill, two developers of the Bitcoin privacy wallet Samourai Wallet, faced charges of money laundering and operating an unlicensed money transfer business. Although the defense pointed out that the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) had stated that the wallet may not meet the definition of a money carrier under the Bank Secrecy Act, the prosecutor refused to withdraw the charges and denied that there was a "Brady violation"(that is, no evidence in favor of the defendant was disclosed). Prosecutors believe that the opinion of the U.S. Financial Crimes Enforcement Network has nothing to do with more serious money laundering charges. The case will proceed as originally planned and is expected to enter the trial stage within the next seven months.
