German luxury automaker BMW will unveil the new BMW iX3 China-exclusive edition this year, as its first Neue Klasse production model makes its global debut in Munich.

BMW announced today on its Chinese social media platforms that the China-specific new BMW iX3 will be specially optimized for Chinese users in terms of intelligence, driving pleasure, and comfort.

The model will incorporate BMW's customized large language AI model technology co-developed with Alibaba and feature smart driving assistance systems developed with local partners that better understand China.

In July, BMW partnered with Chinese AI startup Momenta to develop a China-specific smart driving system for multiple BMW models, including domestically produced next-generation vehicles.

The China-made BMW iX3 will feature revolutionary large cylindrical batteries and a new 800-volt high-voltage platform, BMW said today.

The model will offer over 900 kilometers of CLTC range and can gain more than 400 kilometers of range with a 10-minute charge, alleviating range and charging anxiety for users, the automaker stated.

Earlier today, BMW unveiled the all-new BMW iX3 in Munich, Germany, announcing production will take place at the newly built BMW Group plant in Debrecen, Hungary.

The first vehicles of the model, the BMW iX3 50 xDrive, will roll off the production line in the fall of 2025, according to a statement.

The new BMW iX3 will be launched in Europe in spring 2026 and in the United States in summer 2026.

Additionally, the new BMW iX3 produced at the Shenyang plant in China's Liaoning province will begin deliveries starting summer 2026. This variant is specifically tailored to meet the needs and expectations of Chinese customers, the company stated.

BMW will subsequently introduce more all-electric models, including an entry-level variant.

Between now and 2027, Neue Klasse technology will be applied across a total of 40 new models and model upgrades, the German automaker announced.

The all-new BMW iX3 measures 4,782 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,635 mm in height.

As the first production model of the Neue Klasse, the BMW iX3 heralds a new era for BMW, said Oliver Zipse, chairman of the board of management of BMW.
