BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) has brought the Seal 06 DM-i hybrid sedan to Europe, including its wagon variant, further expanding its European footprint.

The Seal 06 DM-i is rebranded as the Seal 6 DM-i in Europe, with the wagon variant named Seal 6 DM-i Touring. Both models were launched in Europe on September 2, according to a BYD announcement today.

Currently, BYD's European website also showcases the Seal U DM-i hybrid model, known as the Song Plus DM-i in China, which was launched in Europe during the second quarter of 2024.

Additionally, BYD introduced the Seal 05 DM-i hybrid sedan in Poland and Slovakia in June.

The success of the Seal U DM-i demonstrates that hybrid technology allows users to enjoy the fun of electric driving while eliminating range anxiety, said Stella Li, BYD's executive vice president.

The Seal 6 DM-i and Seal 6 DM-i Touring will continue to leverage this advantage to meet the diverse mobility needs of European users, she added.

The Seal 6 DM-i boasts a maximum battery range of 105 kilometers and a combined range exceeding 1,500 kilometers when fully fueled and charged, catering to family outings, long-distance travel, and other multi-scenario usage needs, BYD stated.

With rear seats folded down, the Seal 6 DM-i Touring offers a maximum cargo capacity of 1,535 liters, delivering a spacious experience surpassing its sedan peers, BYD emphasized.

The Seal 6 DM-i's entry into the European market is poised to redefine the freedom and convenience of business travel and family outings, the company said.

The Seal 06 DM-i was launched in China on May 28, 2024, as one of the first two models featuring BYD's fifth-generation DM hybrid technology, alongside the Qin L sedan.

The model currently starts at RMB 99,800 ($13,983) in China.

The Seal 06 DM-i wagon was launched in China on July 4 this year, with a current starting price of RMB 109,800.

BYD formally entered the European passenger vehicle market in September 2022 and has since become one of the region's major new energy vehicle (NEV) players.

BYD sold 373,626 NEVs in August, marking a 0.15 percent year-on-year increase and an 8.52 percent rise from July.

The Seal family sold 53,992 units in August, surpassing the Song family to become BYD's second-best-selling model. Although this represents a 1.54 percent year-on-year decrease, while a 15.24 percent increase from July.

BYD sold 80,813 vehicles overseas in August, a 156.95 percent year-on-year increase and a 0.09 percent rise from July.
