U.S. Justice Department documents show MoonPay executives may have sent US$250,000 to Nigeria fraudsters
Online reports that NOTUS reported for the first time that a document filed by the U.S. Department of Justice aimed at recovering cryptocurrencies obtained through fraud may have inadvertently revealed that the victims of the scam were the CEO and Chief Financial Officer of crypto-payment company MoonPay. The victims are only referred to as "Ivan" and "Mouna" in the document. However, as NOTUS notes, the CEO of crypto-payments company Moonpay is Ivan Soto-Wright and the chief financial officer is Mouna Ammari Siala. In addition, Etherscan listed the wallet involved in the $250,300 transaction as a MoonPay wallet. The document, which seeks to seize approximately $40,350 in USDT frozen by Tether, reveals that two victims remitted $250,300 in USDT to a man posing as Steve Witkoff, co-chairman of Trump's Presidential Inaugural Committee.
