BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) today launched the 2026 Seal 05 DM-i, updating one of its key sedan models.
The refreshed Seal 05 DM-i hybrid sedan is offered in a single trim, starting at RMB 79,800 ($11,180).
This matches the starting price of the previously available Seal 05 DM-i, though its predecessor offered three trims.
The updated Seal 05 DM-i measures 4,780 mm in length, 1,837 mm in width, and 1,515 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,718 mm.
Built on BYD's fifth-generation DM (Dual Mode) technology, it features a 1.5L engine producing 74 kW. It incorporates a single electric motor with a peak output of 120 kW.
The 2026 Seal 05 DM-i offers a battery range of 128 kilometers, longer than its predecessor's 55-120 kilometer range.
With a full tank and fully charged battery, the model achieves a combined range exceeding 2,000 kilometers.

The Seal family's inaugural model was the all-electric Seal sedan, initially launched on July 29, 2022, as a sedan competing with Tesla's (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model 3.
As the lineup expanded, the family contributed significantly to BYD's sales.
The Seal family sold 51,359 units in September, ranking as BYD's third-highest selling model. This represented an 11.88 percent year-on-year decrease and a 4.88 percent decline from August.
