Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) has commenced exports of one of its most popular models, aiming to drive further growth in overseas markets.

The Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker has started exports of the Mona M03 -- an electric sedan that contributed over 40 percent to Xpeng's monthly deliveries in the past year -- with the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region as its first available market.

"Xpeng Mona has been fully prepared and officially began shipping to the Middle East and North Africa, embarking on a new journey overseas," the company wrote on Weibo today.

Xpeng's Weibo post did not provide further details. Several images shared showed these Mona M03 vehicles being exported via Anji Logistics -- a logistics company under SAIC Motor, which operates China's largest car carrier fleet.

These vehicles were loaded onto the vessel at Taicang Port in Jiangsu province, eastern China.

The Mona M03 was launched in China on August 27, 2024, and is the sole model in the Mona lineup. With a starting price of RMB 119,800 (about $16,800), it costs half as much as Tesla's (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model 3.

In August, the sedan delivered 15,334 units, marking the 12th consecutive month surpassing the 10,000-unit mark and accounting for 40.66 percent of Xpeng's monthly deliveries, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.

From January to August, the electric sedan delivered 117,443 units, contributing 43.24 percent of Xpeng's total deliveries during the period.

Xpeng will launch its Mona series vehicles in Europe next year, the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker's chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng said in an interview with CNBC on September 8.

In 2026 you can expect a variety of Mona products launched into the Chinese and European markets, as well as in rest of the world," Mr. He said, in comments translated by CNBC.

Xpeng appears to be developing the second model in the Mona lineup, as spy photos of the vehicle began circulating on Chinese social media last month.
