TRM Labs: Israel may use Nobitex data obtained from hacking incident to hunt down Iranian spies
Internet reports that cryptographic analysis platform TRM Labs issued an article stating that Israel recently arrested three people suspected of spying for Iran. Two of them used cryptocurrency as remuneration. This is a rare public case involving the use of digital assets by government agents. TRM said that on June 18, Iran's largest crypto exchange Nobitex was hacked and lost more than US$90 million. The attacker was the pro-Israel organization Gonjeshke Darande. TRM analysis said that although there is no direct evidence, Israel may use Nobitex internal data (such as wallets and message records) obtained during this attack to target suspects, and the relevant tactics are consistent with Israel's past behavior. Chainalysis added that Nobitex is a key node in the encryption system under Iranian sanctions and has had on-chain interactions with Iranian Revolutionary Guard-related groups.
