Wildberries, one of Eastern Europe's largest online marketplaces, is piloting cryptocurrency payments in Belarus, with Whitebird, a financial technology company operating in Belarus's Hi-Tech Park, which oversees the country's digital economy innovation projects, the Internet reported. The pilot project is authorized by the Belarusian High-Tech Park, a government-backed framework. Wildberries does not allow users to pay cryptocurrency directly to merchants, but uses a hybrid model: users can exchange Bitcoin, Ethereum, TON and other popular cryptocurrencies for electronic gift certificates through the Whitebird platform. Gift certificates are issued in Belarusian Ruble (BYN) and can be redeemed on the Wildberries website and mobile app. According to the company's statement, the service is currently in the beta stage and is only open to some users, supporting desktop and mobile access.
