Nio Sept deliveries breakdown: ES8 delivers 2,803 units in 10 days

The latest delivery breakdown has revealed performance of Nio Inc's (NYSE: NIO) flagship SUV (sport utility vehicle) ES8 during its initial launch phase.
The ES8 delivered 2,803 units in September -- its highest since January 2019 -- making it Nio's third-highest delivering model, according to data compiled by CnEVPost from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
Nio launched the third-generation ES8 on September 20, with deliveries commencing September 21. This means the updated SUV delivered 2,803 units within its first 10 days.
The ES8 is Nio's first mass-produced model, with the first-generation vehicle's initial deliveries occurring in June 2018. Its monthly delivery record stands at 3,318 units in December 2018, primarily driven by accumulated orders during its launch phase.
Nio founder, chairman, and CEO William Li pledged at the launch event for the all-new Nio ES8 that the production capacity for the model would exceed 40,000 units this year.
During a September 2 earnings call, Nio management said the new ES8 would reach 10,000 units monthly production capacity in October and 15,000 units by December.
Production capacity for the new ES8 this year sold out within two days of its launch. Current orders for the model still face a 24-26 week wait for delivery.
The ET5 Touring delivered 5,048 units in September, maintaining its position as Nio brand's top-selling model by monthly volume. This represents a 9.7 percent year-on-year decrease but a 16.99 percent increase compared to August.
The ES6 SUV delivered 2,930 units in September, ranking as Nio brand's second-highest volume model for the month. It's a 62.92 percent year-on-year decline but a 1.84 percent increase from August.
This marks the fourth consecutive month the ET5 Touring has surpassed the ES6 in monthly deliveries, while Nio's historically best-selling model has now seen its fifth straight month of year-on-year decline.
The regular ET5 sedan delivered 1,441 units in September, down 39.40 percent year-on-year but up 10.76 percent month-on-month.
The EC6 coupe SUV delivered 1,084 units in September, down 59.39 percent year-on-year and down 5.49 percent month-on-month.
The ET7 sedan delivered 137 units in September, down 78.96 percent year-on-year and down 64.96 percent month-on-month.
Nio's flagship executive sedan ET9 delivered 90 units in September, down 2.17 percent from August's 92 units.
Priced at RMB 768,000 ($107,680) including battery, the ET9 represents Nio's most expensive model and primarily serves to elevate the company's brand image.
The EC7 coupe SUV delivered 25 units in September, the lowest since records began, marking an 89.45 percent year-on-year decline and an 84.47 percent decrease from August.
Nio Inc delivered 34,749 vehicles in September, marking a record for the second consecutive month, according to data released on October 1.
The Nio brand delivered 13,728 vehicles in September, down 32.54 percent year-on-year but up 30.43 percent from August.
The delivery volume includes 170 units exported to overseas markets, according to data compiled by CnEVPost.
The Onvo sub-brand delivered 15,246 units in September, down 7.23 percent from August. Firefly achieved a record 5,775 deliveries in September, up 32.88 percent from August.
Onvo L60 SUV deliveries totaled 4,249 units in September, down 27.48 percent from August.
Onvo's second model, the L90 SUV, delivered 10,997 units in September, marking the second consecutive month exceeding 10,000 units and representing a 3.99 percent increase from August.
The L90 was officially launched on July 31 and began deliveries on August 1.
Firefly currently delivers only the Firefly EV model.
