British Labour House of Lords apologizes for violating regulations in promoting crypto companies
Internet reported that Iain McNicol, former secretary-general of the British Labor Party and current member of the House of Lords, publicly apologized for violating the Parliamentary Code of Conduct. Investigation revealed that McNicol sent a letter to the Treasury Department in June 2023 to promote cryptocurrency company Astra Protocol, while he was collecting the company's monthly advisory fee. Margaret Obi, the House of Lords Standards Commissioner, determined that this constituted "the provision of paid parliamentary services" and violated the Code of Conduct for Members.
