Qubic responds to a 51% attack on Monero: Monero experiment is proceeding as planned and details will be announced in due course
On August 12, Qubic tweeted in response to the 51% attack on Monero, saying that the Monero (XMR) experiment is proceeding smoothly as planned and everything will be announced in due course. It was previously reported that Qubic, a project of IOTA co-founder Sergey Ivancheglo, quickly accumulated a large amount of Monero computing power through a useful proof-of-work (uPoW) mechanism. On August 12, Qubic briefly controlled the Monroe Network's hash rate of 52.72%(approximately 3.01GH/s). Once it exceeds 51%, Qubic can reject blocks from other mining pools, leading to chain reorganization, double spending, or transaction review. The Monroe community has launched a boycott and defense operation, which Qubic called a technical demonstration and a non-malicious attack.
