China and the United States again suspend 24% tariffs for 90 days
Online reports that the China-US Stockholm Economic and Trade Talks jointly stated: First, the United States will continue to revise the implementation of additional ad valorem tariffs on China goods (including goods from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and the Macao Special Administrative Region) as stipulated in Executive Order No. 14257 of April 2, 2025. The implementation of the 24% tariff will be suspended again for 90 days starting from August 12, 2025, while retaining the remaining 10% of the additional tariffs imposed on these goods in accordance with the bank's decrees. 2. China will continue to (1) revise the implementation of additional ad valorem tariffs on U.S. goods as stipulated in the Taxation Commission Announcement No. 4 of 2025, and suspend the implementation of the 24% tariff again for 90 days starting from August 12, 2025, while retaining the remaining 10% of the additional tariffs on these goods; and (2) take or maintain necessary measures to suspend or cancel non-tariff countermeasures against the United States as agreed in the Geneva Joint Statement.
