British police investigate a new type of fraud: scammers stole about $2.8 million in Bitcoin through impersonation

The Internet reported that the Cybercrime Team of the North Wales Police in the UK is investigating a targeted fraud case: the scammer pretended to be a senior law enforcement officer and used fear and urgent pressure to induce the victim to log in to the cold wallet through a phishing website and leak mnemonics, thereby stealing an estimated value of US$2.8 million (£ 2.1 million) in Bitcoin. This case reflects the growing fraud of senior social workers against long-term currency holders. Law enforcement agencies once again reminded: Be sure to verify the authenticity of any calls or information sources claiming to be law enforcement agencies.
