El Salvador has increased its holdings of 31 bitcoins in the past 30 days, increasing its total holdings to 6,180.18 bitcoins
According to online reports, according to data from the website of the Ministry of Finance of El Salvador, El Salvador increased its holdings of 1 bitcoin again this morning. Currently, it holds 6,180.18 bitcoins, worth more than 638 million US dollars. It has increased its holdings of 8 bitcoins in the past 7 days and 31 bitcoins in the past 30 days, and still maintains its plan to buy 1 bitcoin a day. Notably, in recent months, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has pressured El Salvador to stop accumulating decentralized value stores. In December 2024, El Salvador reached an agreement with the IMF to obtain a US$1.4 billion loan. As part of the agreement, El Salvador agreed to cancel Bitcoin's legal tender status in the country and reduce public sector participation in Bitcoin. On April 27, Rodrigo Valdes, Director of the IMF's Western Hemisphere Division, said at a press conference at the spring meeting that El Salvador is still abiding by its commitment to no longer accumulate bitcoin in the overall financial sector, a key performance indicator reached between the country and the IMF.
