BYD (HKG: 1211) saw its 1,000th electric bus roll off the production line at its Hungarian bus factory on September 26, marking a milestone for the Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker's commercial vehicle operations in Europe.

The 1,000th electric bus was a model customized for the German market and is BYD's flagship B12.b electric bus model for the European market, according to a statement released yesterday.

The 12-meter-long electric bus utilizes BYD's CTC (Cell-to-Chassis) technology, integrating blade batteries directly into the vehicle chassis.

The rollout of the 1,000th B12.b demonstrates BYD's long-term commitment to advancing sustainable public transportation in Europe, the company said.

BYD plans to expand the bus factory with an additional 29,000 square meters of production facilities to further increase annual capacity for electric buses and trucks, the company announced.

Upon completion of the new facilities, the plant's annual capacity will exceed 1,000 units, according to BYD.

To date, BYD electric buses have been operating in the European market for over a decade, serving more than 160 cities across 26 countries with a cumulative total mileage exceeding 645 million kilometers.

Beyond this electric bus factory, BYD is also constructing a passenger vehicle plant in Hungary.

BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) will commence production at its Hungarian passenger vehicle plant later this year and will also introduce its 1-MW ultra-fast charging stations to Europe.

The first model to be produced at the passenger vehicle plant will be the Seagull electric hatchback, according to information released by the company earlier this month.

BYD, China's largest NEV manufacturer, sold 373,626 NEVs in August, marking a 0.15 percent year-on-year increase and an 8.52 percent rise from July.

Overseas sales reached 80,813 units in August, surging 156.95 percent year-on-year and rising 0.09 percent month-on-month.

From January to August, its overseas NEV sales reached 625,816 units, up 136.27 percent year-on-year.
