Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) continued its sales decline for China-made vehicles last month, extending the sluggish performance seen since late last year.
Tesla China sold 83,192 vehicles in August, including those sold domestically and exported from China to overseas markets, according to data released today by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
This represents a 4.04 percent decrease from the 86,697 units sold during the same period last year, though it marks a 22.55 percent increase compared to July's 67,886 units.
Tesla operates a factory in Shanghai producing the Model 3 sedan and Model Y crossover, serving both domestic deliveries and export operations.
Tesla China's sales performance has been weak since late last year.

Tesla's August delivery figures for China and export volumes from its Shanghai factory are not yet available.

Tesla yesterday lowered the price of its Model 3 variant with an 830-kilometer CLTC range in China, less than a month after the variant's August 12 launch.
The variant's new starting price is RMB 259,500 ($36,300), a 3.71 percent reduction from its launch price of RMB 269,500. Deliveries for the variant have not yet commenced.
Earlier today, Tesla announced that deliveries of the six-seat Model Y L have begun in China.
Tesla launched the Model Y L in China on August 19, introducing this six-seat SUV as a new variant to the Model Y alongside the five-seat variants.
The Model Y L starts at RMB 339,000 in China.
