Powell asks the U.S. central bank's inspector general to review the renovation of the Federal Reserve headquarters building

Internet reports that according to CCTV News, while Trump administration officials are stepping up their criticism of the Federal Reserve's operating methods, Federal Reserve Chairman Powell has asked the U.S. Central Bank Inspector General to review the costs involved in the renovation of the Federal Reserve's headquarters building. A person familiar with the matter revealed that the request was made to Federal Reserve Inspector General Michael Horowitz over the weekend. Earlier, White House Office of Management and Budget Director Walter sent a letter to Powell last week, writing that Trump was "extremely concerned" about the cost overrun of the $2.5 billion project. In materials posted on its website, the Federal Reserve described the challenges it faces in carrying out a comprehensive restoration of the Marina Eccles Building and adjacent properties.
