GWM's Wey brand launches Gaoshan 7 MPV, starting at $40,100

GWM's (HKG: 2333) premium Wey brand officially launched the Gaoshan 7, expanding its new energy MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) product lineup.
The Gaoshan 7 was rolled out at an event last night as the newest addition to the Gaoshan series alongside the Gaoshan 8 and Gaoshan 9.
The MPV starts at RMB 285,800 ($40,100), representing a RMB 4,000 (1.38 percent) reduction from its pre-sales price of RMB 289,800.
Alongside the Gaoshan 7 launch, Wey rolled out a Gaoshan Welfare Edition starting at RMB 349,800.
The plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) is a 7-seat family mid-to-large-size MPV measuring 5,050 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width, and 1,900 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,085 mm.
Both the Gaoshan 7 and Gaoshan Welfare Edition are powered by a plug-in hybrid system combining a 1.5T engine with dual electric motors. The engine delivers a maximum power output of 125 kW (168 horsepower) and peak torque of 245 Nm.
The front electric motor provides a maximum power of 80 kW, while the rear motor generates 135 kW.
The combined powertrain delivers 337 kW of power and 644 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds.
The MPV offers a 44.28-kWh ternary lithium battery with a WLTC battery range of 172 km. With a full tank and fully charged battery, its WLTC combined range reaches 945 km.
The Gaoshan 7 comes standard with a 128-channel LiDAR and the third-generation Coffee Pilot driver assistance system.
The model is based on the Gaoshan 8 MPV, which starts at RMB 309,800.
Another MPV in the Gaoshan series, the Gaoshan 9, starts at RMB 353,800.
GWM sold 133,639 vehicles in September, marking a new high this year with a 23.29 percent year-on-year increase and a 15.65 percent rise from August.
The Wey brand sold 11,026 units in September, up 63.23 percent year-on-year and 37.34 percent from August.
