A Catholic church accountant in South Korea embezzled hundreds of millions of won in order to invest in cryptocurrency and confessed his crimes to priests, the network reported. Police have launched an investigation. The Mokpo Police Department in Jeonnam said on the 24th that it had applied for an arrest warrant for Mr. A, who is in his 60s, on suspicion of embezzlement. Mr. A is suspected of misappropriating donations totaling about 480 million won from July last year to last month. Mr. A, who is in charge of financial affairs, pretends to settle the fund-raising funds for church buildings normally, but transfers the money to his acquaintance's account. According to investigation, Mr. A invested these funds in cryptocurrencies, resulting in all losses.
