Xpeng's (NYSE: XPEV) flying car unit, Xpeng Aeroht, has been rebranded as Aridge, removing the Xpeng branding from its name -- a move seemingly aimed at paving the way for more independent development.
The company announced this change at an event in Dubai on October 12, revealing a new brand logo and mentioning for the first time a new product with a range exceeding 500 kilometers.
Aridge combines "Air" and "Bridge," symbolizing "a bridge connecting sky and earth through flight." This embodies the company's vision to become a global leader in low-altitude flight product innovation, according to a statement released yesterday.
The company will pioneer new categories of flying cars under the new brand, delivering more cutting-edge low-altitude products and advancing the popularization of low-altitude flight, said Aridge CFO and vice president Du Chao.
The Xpeng unit's official website has transitioned from aeroht.com to aridge.com, while its official X account now operates as @ARIDGE_Official.
Inspired by the Chinese character (飞) for "fly," the Aridge logo will debut on future production versions of the Land Aircraft Carrier.
The new Aridge brand showcased the Land Aircraft Carrier in Dubai, completing the first overseas public demonstration of a manned flight for the modular flying car.
The company signed agreements with UAE's Ali & Sons Group, Qatar's Almana Group, Kuwait's AlSayer Group, and the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce UAE for the Middle East's first batch of 600 flying car orders, setting the industry's largest overseas bulk order record, according to the statement.
To date, cumulative orders for the Land Aircraft Carrier have reached 7,000 units, the company said.
Aridge plans to enter the Middle East market as early as 2027, it said.
At the event, Aridge also showcased its hybrid long-range flying car under development, named the A868.
The new product is designed with a range exceeding 500 kilometers and a maximum speed surpassing 360 km/h. It is expected to debut in Guangzhou this November, the company announced.
The A868 will target long-distance travel needs, working alongside the Land Aircraft Carrier to build diversified low-altitude application scenarios, Aridge said.
The company also announced that its flying car smart manufacturing base in Guangzhou was completed at the end of September. This is the world's first flying car smart manufacturing plant utilizing modern assembly lines for mass production.
The facility boasts an annual production capacity of 10,000 units, with full-scale production and product delivery scheduled to commence in 2026. Upon reaching full capacity, the plant will produce one aircraft every 30 minutes.
