Federal Reserve Logan: Federal Reserve should strengthen interest rate control mechanism

Internet reports that Dallas Fed Chairman Logan said that the Fed should consider strengthening mechanisms to more effectively prevent money market interest rates from soaring when the market is under pressure. In a speech prepared for the Fed's 2025 financial markets meeting in Atlanta, Logan reiterated his call to encourage more banks to use the discount window and centrally clear Standing Repo Facility (SRF) operations. Logan also pointed out that the Fed should focus on broader market interest rates rather than just the federal funds rate. "In my opinion, interest rate control is not just about keeping the federal funds rate within the target range," she said.
