Is Iran developing nuclear warheads? Trump and intelligence chiefs disagree
U.S. President Trump on Tuesday refuted U.S. National Intelligence Director Gabbard's assessment that Iran is not building nuclear weapons, the first time since his second term publicly refuted his intelligence chief. Trump dismissed the judgment of his top spy and appeared to accept Netanyahu's reasons for launching air strikes on Iranian nuclear and military targets last week, saying he believed Tehran was about to have a nuclear warhead. On his early return to Washington on Air Force One from the G7 summit in Canada, Trump was asked how far he thought Iran was from having nuclear weapons. "Very close." He replied. When told Gababad testified before Congress in March that the U.S. intelligence community still believed Tehran was not developing a nuclear warhead, Trump replied,"I don't care what she said. I think they will have one soon."
