Police in Seoul, South Korea, cracked an international hacker gang involved in encryption and money laundering, involving approximately US$30 million."
On September 9, it was reported that the Seoul Police Department spent two years destroying an international hacking gang, targeting 258 victims including corporate executives and high-net-worth individuals, involving approximately 39 billion won (≈ 30 million US dollars). The police used Chainalysis Reactor to track the flow of funds along the chain and collaborate across borders. They arrested the main offender in Thailand and extradited him to South Korea 106 days later. About 14 billion won have been recovered. The gang was accused of invading and transferring funds by illegally opening mobile phone accounts and counterfeiting agency personnel.
