Trump and Powell face to face debate over renovation costs
Internet reported that Trump and Powell had a face-to-face debate on Thursday over the cost of renovating the Federal Reserve headquarters. Powell said the president was wrong about the cost of renovating the Federal Reserve headquarters. As the two men stood together wearing construction helmets and spoke to the media, Trump said the Federal Reserve's renovation costs jumped from $2.7 billion to $3.1 billion, and Powell responded: "I didn't know about that." Trump replied: "This was just announced." Powell again questioned Trump's data source because it did not come from the Federal Reserve. Powell noted that the president appears to have added the cost of another building to the two buildings currently under renovation. Trump said he would fire a project manager for overspending costs. Powell does not expect more cost overruns, but the Fed has reserves and can cope with them if needed.
