The Federal Reserve invited reporters to visit the headquarters renovation project ahead of Trump's visit

Internet reported that Federal Reserve staff led reporters on a tour of the $2.5 billion renovation project of the Federal Reserve headquarters. A few hours later, U.S. President Trump will visit the project that he and his allies have attacked as wasteful and extravagant. In recent weeks, Trump and other Republicans have put increasing pressure on Federal Reserve Chairman Powell over the renovation, questioning the project's growing budget and launching a review of Powell's testimony in the Senate last month about the renovation. Federal Reserve staff said Thursday's visit showed reporters the inside work of the construction site, where about 700 to 800 workers work in shifts every day. The reporter also visited the roof of the Eccles Building. Republicans have questioned a National Capital Planning Commission document on the renovation project that mentions a "rooftop garden terrace" that provides a sitting area for (Fed) employees.
