The Trump administration considers issuing an executive order to speed up nuclear power plant construction
The Internet reported that according to the New York Times, the Trump administration is considering issuing several executive orders aimed at accelerating the construction of nuclear power plants to help meet growing power demand. The draft order said the United States called for a "comprehensive revision" of federal safety regulations to make it easier to build new nuclear power plants. They envision the Department of Defense playing an important role in ordering reactors and installing them on military bases. They will also set a goal to quadruple the size of nuclear power plants across the country from nearly 100 gigawatts now to 400 gigawatts by 2050. A draft order titled "Welcoming a Nuclear Renaissance" wrote: "Quick and decisive action is needed to initiate a nuclear renaissance in the United States."
