Hong Kong MPFA: Allow MPF investment products to include cryptocurrencies and virtual assets after ensuring that risks are controllable
According to online reports, Cheng Yanli, Executive Director of the Hong Kong Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA), talked about whether MPF investment products will include virtual assets and cryptocurrencies in a recent interview with a TV program. He said that the MPFA needs to ensure that risks are controlled before allowing MPF investment products to be included in cryptocurrencies and virtual assets. However, there are still reservations about virtual assets at this stage, so further observation is needed before making a decision. Zheng Enli added that now is the time to review lazy funds (default investment portfolio), such as lowering the fund fee cap, which he hopes to complete in the next one to two years.
