JPMorgan Chase: Trump's new tariffs will increase the average U.S. tax rate to 14.6%"

Internet reports that JPMorgan economists Michael Ferio and Abel Reinhart released a new research report, estimating that after including the tariffs Trump announced this week that will impose on 14 countries on August 1, the average tariff rate in the United States will increase from the previous 13.4% to 14.6%. According to independent analysis by Commerzbank, the new average tariff rate may exceed 18%. In addition, JPMorgan also pointed out that if Trump continues to promote other potential trade measures, such as restoring equivalent tariffs on other countries proposed in April, adding new tariffs on copper products, or imposing additional tariffs on BRICS countries, the overall average tariff rate of the United States may rise further by as much as 6 percentage points.
