U.S. Department of Justice seeks to seize $500,000 USDT from private wallets of Iranian drone suppliers

The Internet reported that the U.S. District Attorney's Office for the District of Massachusetts has filed a civil forfeiture lawsuit seeking to recover approximately $584,700 in Tether (USDT) stablecoins belonging to an Iranian national who provided technology to the Iranian military. According to the Justice Department, in January 2024, three U.S. soldiers were killed at a military base in northern Jordan. Subsequent analysis showed that an Iranian Shahed drone using SDRA's Sepehr navigation system was the culprit in the attack. Abedini is charged with providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization that resulted in death, and conspiring to procure sensitive U.S. technology for use in military drones.
