MetaMask co-founder says native token issuance is still "possible"

According to online reports, MetaMask co-founder Dan Finlay said in an interview with The Block that the team is still considering whether to launch native tokens. "Maybe," Finlay said with a smile when talking about the possibility of launching MetaMask tokens. "If we really wanted to do it, it would be advertised directly in our wallets. You'll find the link directly in your wallet." Although there is no clear plan yet, Finlay pointed out that in the Trump administration's looser regulatory environment,"more types of token issuance are safe" and "hope that people will seize this opportunity to push boundaries and set new precedents." He stressed that he would not promote tokens through social media, text messages or emails: "It will appear in the wallet and on our official website." MetaMask is part of Ethereum development company AgreSys and has approximately 30 million monthly active users as of 2024.
