Coinbase calls on Supreme Court to restrict IRS monitoring of crypto user behavior

According to online reports, Coinbase joined forces with multiple parties to file an amicus curiae brief, urging the U.S. Supreme Court to accept the Harper v. O'Donnell case and re-examine the applicability of the third-party disclosure principle in the digital age. The case stems from the IRS's request for Coinbase to provide transaction data for more than 14,000 users through a "John Doe subpoena". Coinbase pointed out that this practice constitutes "financial ankle-style" surveillance of blockchain users and violates its privacy rights guaranteed by the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution. Whether the court will accept the case is expected to decide within this year.
