The city of Roswell, USA establishes a strategic Bitcoin reserve and emergency fund

On April 30, according to an official document released by Bitcoin Magazine, the city of Roswell, New Mexico, officially confirmed that it had received its first Bitcoin donation totaling 3,050,323 Cats (approximately 0.0305 BTC), which was approximately US$2,906 based on the market value at the time. The donation serves as "seed money" to start and establish the "Roswell Strategic (Bitcoin) Reserve" managed by the city government. According to the documents, the fund will: be held for at least ten years to accumulate Bitcoin donations and sponsorships; after reaching the US$1 million threshold, it can be used as a "Bitcoin Emergency Fund", with 21% available every five years, subject to unanimous approval by the city council; priority will be given to subsidize water bills and emergency disaster response for local elderly residents. The donation was officially accepted on April 29 and was signed and confirmed by Roswell Acting Mayor Juliana Halvorson and Bitcoin certification expert Guy Malone.
