Meta is reported to delay the release of its flagship AI model "Behemoth"

Online reports, according to the Wall Street Journal, people familiar with the matter said that Meta Platforms(META.O) will delay the release of its flagship AI model, a move that has sparked internal concerns about the direction of its tens of billions of dollars in AI investment. People familiar with the matter said engineers are working hard to improve the performance of the large-language model called Behemoth, and employees question whether the improvements are enough to support public release. The model was originally scheduled to be unveiled at Meta's first AI Developers Conference in April, but was later postponed to June, and is now postponed again until autumn or later. Although Meta had previously been praised for quickly catching up with rivals such as OpenAI and spent US$72 billion to realize Zuckerberg's AI ambitions, the "Behemoth" training was blocked and its performance fell short of expectations. The senior management team is dissatisfied with the Llama 4 development team and is considering a management reorganization of the AI product department.
